Emu Bird

Fact:

Standing at 2 meters tall, the emu is the second tallest bird next to the ostrich.

Habitat:

Grassland, open forest, and scrub.

Threats:

Farmed for their meat, skin and feathers and in some areas they are shot by farmers for raiding crops.

Range:

Australia.

Additional Information:

It is the male that incubates the eggs for 8 weeks, rarely leaving the nest, as the female leaves to join groups of non-breeding birds
