Al Ain, an oasis telling the story of 3000 years of civilization
Al Ain is 160 kilometres far from the capital Abu Dhabi and 120 kilometres far from Dubai and is part of the emirate of Abu Dhabi. It differs from many regions in the UAE in the respect of the abundance of springs and green spaces of more than 30 million square meters as well as its relatively mild climate. Therefore, it can be considered as the UAE's luxuriant garden. It gains more splendour and grandeur from Jebel Hafeet which rises to 1300 meters above sea level. Visitors to the mountain can see our neighboring zoo and watch Al Ain as a whole through an amazing panoramic picture.
Al Ain witnessed a human civilization in 300 BC. That was indicated by excavated items found in archaeological sites such as Hili. In addition to that immemorial heritage, Al Ain has a modern history and its people excelled at building forts as well as a unique irrigation system, i.e. falaj.
The late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founder of the union of the UAE and its president, loved this city. Al Ain was the first city he ruled before the founding of the UAE.
